The oats recipe I actually enjoy

Hey there,

I’ll be honest with you. Oats used to never be my thing.

I didn’t like the traditional way of making it. That is, being cooked with water. I could eat it, and I did sometimes, but I never actually enjoyed it.

Then I started taking fitness more seriously and looking for easy meals that could help me hit my protein and calorie goals without overthinking things.

And then I discovered overnight oats.

Instead of cooking it, you just soak it overnight and then eat it the next day. The first time I tried it, I wasn’t too convinced, but it felt way better than what I was used to.

Unlike cooked oats, it doesn’t feel too slimy to me. Even then, I still don’t enjoy it when it gets too thick, and I know a lot of people avoid overnight oats for the same reason.

So this is my little trick: when I’m ready to eat it, I add extra milk to loosen the texture. It makes it so much creamier and easier to eat, and that consistency is just perfect for me.

Lately, I’ve been experimenting with different flavors and combinations and they’ve been turning out so good. I recently shared blueberry overnight oats on TikTok, and I want to share another favorite with you: banana overnight oats.

If you love bananas, this recipe will make your day.

What I also love about overnight oats it is how easy it is to adjust depending on your goals.

If you’re trying to gain weight or build muscle, bananas are great because they’re more calorie-dense and make it easier to hit your calorie goals without feeling like you’re stuffing yourself.

And if your goal is fat loss, you can still enjoy overnight oats too. You might just use fewer bananas or go for lighter combinations like the blueberry version instead.

Eating healthy doesn’t mean forcing yourself to eat foods you don’t like. Instead, you can tweak them into versions that actually work for you.

Banana Overnight Oats

An easy and healthy breakfast that’s creamy, filling, and great for busy mornings. It’s especially helpful if you’re trying to hit your calorie and protein goals without spending too much time cooking.

If you try the recipe, let me know how it goes!

Before you go, I have a small favor to ask. If this newsletter has been helpful to you in any way, I’d really appreciate if you could leave a quick review for me to use on the new Bodied Balance website when it launches. It would mean so much to me. Thank you :)

Take care and talk soon,

Maame.

#028 May 08, 2026 Hey there, Let’s be real. As much as you can be disciplined, and committed to the things that you want, life just happens and there are days that feel harder than others. Days where you feel exhausted, overwhelmed, grieving a loss, burnt out, or just not like yourself. And usually, your fitness is one of the things that get affected. Going to the gym begins to feel like too much effort and following your food goals sounds like the hardest thing ever. The worst part is that...

#026 April 24, 2026 Hey there, Think of the last time you were really stressed. How was your eating during that time? Were you eating more than usual, eating less, or choosing foods you typically wouldn’t? What most people might not be aware of is that stress has a way of changing how we eat. Some people overeat when they’re stressed, while others completely lose their appetite. Either way, stress can affect your fitness goals. If you’re trying to lose weight, stress can lead to overeating...

#025 April 17, 2026 Hey there, Trying to work out at the gym with a 9-5 in Accra can feel almost impossible. Between catching a trotro (mini bus in Ghana) in the morning and sitting in traffic before work, then doing the same thing after work, you can very easily spend close to 2-3 hours a day just commuting. And that’s exhausting. By the time you get home, the last thing you want to do is go back out. So I completely understand how fitting in a gym routine can feel hard. But it’s possible....
